The Santa Cruz County Superior Court can make a court interpreter available for any language that may be needed. The court has a contract with a company that provides said services by telephone and/or video. Since the vast majority of the customers the court serves who need an interpreter require a Spanish language interpreter, the court counts on two full-time Spanish language interpreters. These interpreters are employees of the court and perform the majority of their work in person. Additionally, the court contracts with Spanish language interpreters when needed. These are individuals who are not court employees. They perform the service as an independent contractor. if you are interested in becoming a Spanish language interpreter, see the flyer available at the link below. As you will see, court interpreters are paid well but there is a credentialing process in place. Again, see the flyer for more information.
