Beginning in the fall of 2022, the Santa Cruz County School Superintendent’s Office began offering adult education classes through the Santa Cruz County Continuing Education Program (SCCCE). The program includes classes to improve basic skills for adults preparing to take the Arizona High School Equivalency Exam. The Adult Secondary Education (ASE) classes provided by SCCCE offer instruction in content areas of the Arizona High School Equivalency exam: Language Arts, Reading and Writing, Social Studies, Science and Mathematics.
On December 20, 2022, the SCCCE celebrated the Fall/Winter Class of 2022 Graduation Ceremony. School Superintendent Alfredo Velasquez presented seven students with their Arizona High School Equivalency Diploma. The graduates were Roberto Muñoz, Irma Machado, Diego Ibarra, Morgan Hayes, Bailey Hayes, Allison Hayes, and Dulce Salcido.
Also recognized during the ceremony were Monica Galaz, Maria Leon, Gabriela Ibañez Islas and Mirna Yanez who completed the English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA) program. ELLA classes teach the four basic communications skills to students whose native language is not English.
